I hate processed and unnatural caffeine. It doesn’t agree with my body on a good day, let alone on a bad one when I’m lethargic from the gym. I’m not sure if that’s to do with the fact that my body hates me (lols to my medical history being massive) or what. But it’s just something that I have never been able to digest properly.
I don’t drink tea or coffee or coke, energy drinks or sports drinks, and I very rarely drink fizzy drinks such as lemonade or Fanta etc. I tend to stick to water or juice, and get my caffeine from my food sources such as chocolate or fruit. Because we all know apples are naturally high in caffeine and are more beneficial to your body than that extra shot of coffee or that energy drink fuelled by bull sperm. All the yums.
But getting that extra mile, and rep in the gym does prove difficult when lacking in natural energy once you have burnt yourself out going hard core on that session. So how can you give your body the boost it so desperately needs while staying as natural and unprocessed as possible?
Well there are two alternatives that I use on the regular that really do give you that fire in your belly, anti-oxidant rush through your blood and the spring in your step to help you carry on, when all you want to do is crawl into the foetal position like the big sweaty mess you are.
Well it’s time to man up- because things are about to get naturally energised.
The GINGER ZINGER.
First we have the natural ginger collection which is a caffeine free pick me up- that is made with no added artificial flavourings or additives. This little 7cl shot is the real deal- it promises an intense pick up- for those that like it hot. Made from crushed ginger and apple juice- this is one for those that love the flavour of ginger- because it really does pack a punch.
Ginger is a natural caffeine alternative, and gives you the energy without the nasty caffeine crash that you get with other products. Not only is it brilliant at keeping you going it is also an amazing natural pain reliever for both joint and muscle pain and headaches and colds, all while strengthening your immune system. It also helps your digestion, your heart and circulation and is packed full of antioxidants to really give your body an added boost all over.
It does warm the back of your throat, and your stomach and your entire body for a couple of seconds through its powerful flavouring, but the proof is in the pudding and this bad boy really gets you going for longer.
The second shot we have is the organic beetroot sports collection. Backed by science and endorsed by athletes all over the world.
Through the use of beetroot concentrate their shots can contain up to c40mg of the natural dietary nitrate found inside the super food that is beetroot without any added preservatives or any extra nasties.
The benefits from beetroot juice can help make you run faster, pedal harder and workout longer. Through the packed bottle of nitrates which your body converts into nitric oxide (NO)- a molecule that enhances the blood vessel dilation which can then increase your blood flow capacity and lowers the amount of oxygen your muscles need. So that you are able to use the oxygen more efficiently and therefore have more power.
Now I actually love beetroot- so the flavour on this one isn’t so bad for me, but I know a lot of people cant stand the flavour, especially in a concentrated flavour. Even once it is diluted with water, so why not add it to a smoothies or yoghurt, or mix it into muesli or oats? Or alternatively create my Beetroot Energy bars! Or Beetroot Brownies!
I have always seen an improvement in my workouts through using beetroot products and this is just an easier way of getting it into your system.
There has been speculation lately that beetroot doesn’t actually have any improvement on a bodies NO levels, but it works for me and thousands of athletes so it can’t all be bad.
You can get both of these energy shots from any good health food stores or online at James White juices or amazon.
Why not see how much they can improve your sweat and energy levels?
