How one crazy man’s walking restored my faith in humanity.

Have you ever met someone that completely took your breath away, for all the right reasons?

Now this isn’t going to be your typical love story- instead its a story about one man’s love for the world.

I know it’s not going to come as a shock to you when I say this, but life isn’t always what you expect it to be- but it’s what you make it.

Life is full of twists and turns.

It’s made up of ups and downs, and sometimes it can feel like the world’s most emotional and unpredictable rollercoaster- when you wish time would hit pause for a little while, so you can enjoy the present- or fast-forward through the bad times. But unfortunately, just as much as you can’t guarantee on the future- you can guarantee that time will just carry on ticking along on its own accord and you will have to learn to adjust around it.

It’s not about the cards that you are dealt; its the way you play them.
I was recently told this by someone- whose story I just had to share with you all.

I have just spent the entire day learning about someone who is very special. Someone extremely selfless and inspiring and someone who has completely restored my faith in humanity- all by doing that one thing we take for granted every single day.. walking.

I have shared and mentioned him previously on my social media- but he is someone that since the day I discovered him, and what he does- he has stuck in my memory completely. Without ever meeting him, he has made an impact on my life and so many around him. And I’m 100% sure he has no idea how incredible he is, and what he has done and continues to do.

Alex Ellis-Roswell has spent the last few years walking around the UK and Ireland coasts and racked up over 5,000 miles to raise money for RNLI and has another 4,500 to go. At this current moment in time. He has walked for 2 years, 4 months and 15 days- and has raised over £25,000.

But what makes Alex so memorable to me, is not the fact that he is undeniably patient, empowering and albeit slightly crazy, but its the way he carries himself in such a positive light and does so for people he has never met before.. He has a way of creating the most beautiful and emotional stories from every day of his adventure- he has this incredible way of taking the lives and words of the ordinary and turns them into something extra-ordinary. His daily updates spark emotion inside of you that I didn’t even know was possible through words on a screen, you become invested in the people and the places he has seen. The love and care from the people he has met- you feel his pain against the cold winter nights, and the exhaustion through the long, dry days. You mentally crave his updates, and subconsciously wish him well as he continues another day.

He has a way with words, that I could only dream of being able to convey.

He has a mentality, that I could only dream of having.
He has a spark for life- and a selfless act of wanting to make a difference in the world, that I believe every one needs to have- even if they just reflect theirs onto him- as he will willingly take it and carry it along with his own.

Instead of sharing his stories here on his: triumphs, and his low. His scares, his enjoyment and breath-taking moments- I strongly urge you to head over to his Facebook page- where he will entice you into his crazy, but infatuating journey.

For one person, to continue this lonely journey- for the sake of so many.

I, for one- am glad to know him.
