Now I love food. But for some reason breakfast is one that always baffles me. I would rather get a few extra minutes sleep than force myself to get up and make breakfast. This normally results in me having to grab something quick and unhealthy on my way out the door or something equally as unhealthy but ridiculously expensive on my commute to London. OR wait and starve and end up spending £3 on about 4 wedges of mango when I finally get to work which is ridiculous- because London, why you so expensive?!
Which is why I was in complete awe when I was introduced to the idea of overnight oats- I tried making smoothies and juices the night before to have in the morning as a quick fix, but they always went nasty and brown before I could enjoy it, so was very quickly turned off that idea. It also just shows how much preservatives are used in bottle juices/smoothies to keep them fresh.
But overnight oats are a breakfast saviour in the form of something quite gloopy and grey, not exactly the most attractive breakfast but very beneficial in more than one way. They are super simple to make, without any added nasties (unless you add them in yourself!), can come in whatever flavour you wish and are just super convenient to pick up, and go without any prior preparation needed in the morning. Just add your ingredients the night before, shake and leave in the fridge. Super tasty, super filling and no hassle. My kinda morning.
