Yes, it’s true. I’ve been struck down with the awful F word.
I’ve been in bed the last week, coughing, sniffling, moaning, sleeping and genuinely hating my body. Like I fed you a vegetable last month, how dare you betray me like this?!
BUT – there is a small mercy, I am *touch wood* finally feeling a little bit better, after a whole week of not being able to breathe out of my nose, or able to talk properly without sounding like a cross between Darth Vadar and the Honey Puff Monster, so thought I would do this weeks da’load in honour of my unwanted house (and body) guest.
So here is this weeks 5. The 5 Things that I love, I want and things I have done this week.
IN my Mouth // Covonia Mucus Cough Syrup in Liquorice.
Now this may sound like a ridiculous one to put on a weekly favourites, considering the taste, texture and after-burn is exactly like Sambuca without all the fun and bad mistakes, unless you can count putting something this bad in your mouth a mistake. (we have all been there right?!). But it’s the after math that is the exact reason as why this black, sticky liquid is one of my faves. It’s strong, it’s potent, but my god – does it work! I’ve tried so many different cough medicines over the years and this is by far the most effective at breaking through the flu-bound and getting you on the way to recovery.
ON my TV // Single AF.
This show is exactly what I expected a show from MTV using the words ‘AF’ in their title to be. It’s terrible, it’s cringy but oh so binge-able in all the best ways. Take 7 hopeless ‘celebs’ and ship them off across the world to find love with the help of their fans, in just 2 short weeks. It’s the modern, 21st century, real-life, social-media dating show, and I can’t stop watching. It also shows me that I’m not the only person out there that totally sucks at dating, so there’s that to make me feel better while they are off in Aus or Mexico and i’m sitting there with my dog unable to breathe without sounding like I’m in pain.
IN my Headphones // Deaf Havana.
If you are an OG Amanda Bootes fan, you would know that DH has always been my go-to, feel-good, feel-sad, dance along, sing along and cry too band. There is just something about the right music that can reflect how you are feeling, but my old faithful DH are there through thick and thin, good and bad. I have been a fan of the band since around 2011, and that is nowhere near ready to change. They have gone through some major changes over the years, but they are finally going back to their roots, and that makes every ounce of my body happy. Being able to see these guys flourish, grow and excel in every part of their musical and personal lives is something that I will always adore. Unfortunately I was supposed to see them yesterday but, yano, sick, so I couldn’t go – so I have been binge-listening as much as I can and just pretending I was there.
ON my Phone // Animal Crossing.
IT’S BACK YOU GUYS. The Nintendo game I, like many other pre-teens, was completely and utterly obsessed with is back, and it’s on your phone for easy access. Okay, it’s pretty dull and just a repetition game, but that’s exactly what you need when you are in bed and unable to move. You get to live your life through a little character on a screen fishin’ and pickin’ fruit for random animals. I will probably be deleting the game come tomorrow, when it’s back to adult life, because it takes up a whole heap of data and space on my phone. But it’s done it’s job, and a job well done.
IN my Shopping Basket // LVNDR.
I am a huge supporter in shopping local, shopping small and supporting friends businesses. Which is when I came across the beautiful Em Sheldon’s jewellery company LVNDR which she runs with her family I just had to have a little sneaky look – and fell completely in love with so much of their incredible and adorable products. From dainty animal necklaces, to purr-fect cat rings to tropical treasures, marble and wanderlust collections there is something for everyone. I ordered the rose gold plated Queen Ellie and I can’t wait for it to arrive.
